The Tux CM (Channel Model) is an innovative approach to a balisong trainer that aims to kill an unfathomable amount of birds with one stone. For starters, the Tux CM acts as a lot of “firsts” for Jimpy Designs. It’s the first budget balisong offering from Jimpy Designs as well as the first trainer balisong offering. To make things a little more exciting, the Tux CM is also the first Tux model you can directly purchase off of my website fully assembled and ready to flip out of the box. Being based on the Tux Project platform makes the Tux CM incredibly easy to modify and customize to meet your aesthetic and flipping preferences. To make customizing your Tux CM even easier, I developed a hot swappable spacer system and implemented it into the Tux CM. This allows you to remove and install different spacers quickly by eliminating the need to disassemble the balisong. The Tux CM also features tunable pivot bolts to make tuning simpler for not only the end user, but also for myself (tuning bushings properly takes FOREVER and would have made the Tux CM way more expensive). All it takes is a bit of trial and error with an Allen key to keep your Tux CM feeling well tuned for longer. When done properly, these tunable pivot bolts make the washer driven Tux CM feel that much closer to a bushing driven system. One of the most in-your-face features of the Tux CM is it’s unique handle construction. I developed this handle construction (which I call Metal-Reinforced Composite Channel) in an effort to make a channel balisong that is less expensive to produce as well as easy and affordable to repair and modify by the end user. You get the exclusive feel of a channel balisong with all of the customization and repairability potential of a sandwich style balisong all at an affordable price.

Obviously the Tux CM is an unconventional and experimental balisong design, but I think it turned out to be an excellent approach for developing a solid budget balisong that has tons of modding potential, is easily repairable, and is manufactured 100% in the USA. It is definitely not easy to hit all of those marks with one balisong design (trust me).
